Disha Salian was born on 26 May 1992, in Udupi, Karnataka. Her father is a businessman and her mother is a housewife. She has a younger Vijay Salian who works as an Associate Software Engineer at Accenture Services Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. After schooling, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media and reportedly she was engaged to TV actor, Rohan Rai.

She started working as a freelance reporter with Winkball in 2011, and she joined Times Group India as a researcher in 2012. Disha Salian committed suicide on 8 June 2020 by jumping off from the 14^th floor of her building in Jankalyan Nagar in Malad West.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital in Borivali, Mumbai immediately but was declared dead. Reports suggest she was battling depression for a long period and due to this she took that big step and ended her life.

Some reports also suggest that her death was not a suicide but it was an accidental death as before her death she partied with her boyfriend and other close friends and drank too much and locked herself in a room because of a fight with her boyfriend. After that, her foot got slipped from the 14^th floor of her residential building.
