Her international breakthrough came with The Mole Agent (2020). The documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and became the first Chilean documentary nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Maite Alberdi followed it with The Eternal Memory (2023), which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and received another Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. The film also won Spain’s Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film. She later directed In Her Place (El lugar de la otra), released in 2024, expanding her work into narrative feature filmmaking. Her upcoming film A Child of My Own is listed for 2026.
