Nancy Mace was born into a military family. Her father, James Emory Mace, was a U.S. Army brigadier general, and her mother, Anne Mace, was a schoolteacher. At the age of 16, Nancy went through a traumatic experience—she was raped. She later became a strong voice for women’s rights.
